OnePlus will have the latest Snapdragon 835 Processor. Snapdragon 835 is a 64-bit Octa-Core Processor by Qualcomm which is their latest flagship CPU. Snapdragon 835 is manufactured using the 10nm FinFET Process. It has 4 Kryo 280 Cores clocked at 2.45 GHz and another set of 4 Kryo 280 Cores clocked at 1.9 GHz. Currently, Snapdragon 835 is one of the fastest processors in the world alongside Samsung’s Exynos 8895 and Apple’s A10 Fusion Chip. Snapdragon 835 has the Adreno 540 GPU and Qualcomm X16 LTE Modem. It will feature a Dual 12MP Rear Camera with Optical Image Stabilization and a 16MP Front Camera.
The highest variant will have 8GB Dual-Channel LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB Internal Storage. It will have a 3,400 mAh Battery with OnePlus’s Dash Charge support. OnePlus 5 Release Date
If we go back to the launch of OnePlus 3, it was launched in June 2016. We expect the same this time around as well. OnePlus Five is expected to release in the second quarter of 2017. The exact date of launch is still unclear but it would be somewhere around June 2017. If you’re looking for a budget flagship then it will be worth the wait. Also, it will be interesting to see how good OnePlus5 will be compared to the Xiaomi’s Mi 6. We’re expecting a good battle between these 2 devices.
OnePlus 5 is expected to be priced at $500 or about 32,000 Indian Rupees. The price in India could be more than 32,000 but will definitely not exceed 35K. OnePlus will surely provide a flagship device at a low price. Considering the price of OnePlus 3T, OnePlus5 would be slightly more expensive than its predecessor. But that extra would be worth it. A phone at $500 with features like Snapdragon 835, Dual Rear Camera, AMOLED Display, 8 GB RAM will surely be considered really good.
OnePlus 3T or wait for OnePlus 5?
If you’re planning on buying a OnePlus 3T then I will not recommend it for obvious reasons. OnePlus 3T is a lot similar to the OnePlus 3 and it is now a year old technology. Just by waiting a couple of months, you can get a far better device which excels in every aspect. Also, with the launch of OnePlus 5, there will be a decrease in the price of OnePlus 3T. So, now if you wait a few months then you’ll have 2 better choices. You could either go for OnePlus 5 by spending a few extra bucks or else you can go for the OnePlus 3T at a much lower price. So, I don’t find any good reason to for OnePlus 3T currently (Of course considering that your current phone still works.)
In the end, I’ll conclude by saying that OnePlus 5 could become the best low priced flagship of the year. The specs look pretty good on the paper. Just like the Mi6, OnePlus 6 is expected to score 180k+ on the Antutu Benchmarks. The Snapdragon 835 with 10nm tech makes the device ultra power efficient. This, in turn, will boost the battery life and eliminate throttling/heating issues. Though, how good the smartphone actually performs will depend upon the user reviews and real world performance. But so far OnePlus has done a pretty good job and has certainly earned the trust of thousands. Going by their track record, it will be safe to say that OnePlus 5 will be a successful smartphone.
Once the phone is launched, we will do a complete review of OnePlus 5 and compare it with other devices in the similar budget such as the Xiaomi’s Mi 6. Subscribe us for the latest Tech Updates and for any queries or suggestions, do comment below.
