Both these devices have a similar specification and differ in price only by Rs. 1,000. The first major difference is the Processor, Redmi 4A uses the Quad-Core Snapdragon 425 while the Redmi 3s uses the Octa-Core Redmi 3s. Another difference is the Design, Redmi 3s’s body is made of Aluminium while Redmi 4A is made of polycarbonate which is plastic. The body of Redmi 4A actually feels like Metal due to its polycarbonate matte finish. The Redmi 3s also has a slightly better Camera and a much higher Battery Capacity.
So, Is Redmi 3s better than Redmi 4A? Or is the Redmi 3s worth spending extra 1K? Let’s find out in Redmi 4A vs Redmi 3s:

General Performance

The day to day life performance of both the devices is similar. Even though the Redmi 3s has an Octa-Core CPU clocked at a higher frequency, both Snapdragon 425 and 430 use the same Cortex A53 Cores manufactured using the 28nm manufacturing process. So, you will not find any major difference in performance. Neither of the two devices lags while performing normal tasks. However, neither of the devices are too powerful when it comes to performance.

Redmi 4A: 8/10

Redmi 3s: 8/10

Redmi 3s, as well as Redmi 4A, has a similar display and design. However, Redmi 3s has a metallic body while Redmi 4A has a  polycarbonate matte-like finish which gives metallic feel in hands. The Screen Size and Display Resolution of Redmi 4A and 3s are same. The screen to body ratio of Redmi 3s is 71.1% while that of Redmi 4A is 69.0%. Both the phones look great and completely overshadow phones from other brands in this range.

Camera

Both Redmi 3s and Redmi 4A have a 13 MP Rear Camera and 5 MP Front Camera. However, the sensors used are different. Hence, the camera quality of the devices isn’t the same. Also, Redmi 3s has a f/2.0 aperture while the Redmi 4A’s camera has a f/2.2 aperture. This would mean that Redmi 3s will perform better in low light conditions.

Redmi 3s: 8.5/10

Multitasking

When it comes to multitasking, all we talk about is the RAM. Both the phones have 2GB RAM. Also, both the phones use Single-Channel LPDDR3 RAM. This will provide similar multitasking experience. If you are a heavy user then I’ll definitely recommend you to choose a device with at least 3 GB RAM like the Redmi 3s Prime.

Redmi 3s: 8/10

Gaming Performance

Adreno 505 GPU of Xiaomi Redmi 3s has an edge over the Adreno 308 GPU of Redmi 4A. The Redmi 3s performs certainly better than Redmi 4A in gaming. However, even Redmi 4A can handle every game you throw at it without any lags. There will, of course, be minor throttling and heating issues after long gaming due to the 28nm technology. If you want to avoid that then I’ll recommend you to go for Redmi Note 4 which uses 14nm manufacturing process. Both Redmi 4A and 3s do pretty well in gaming.

Redmi 3s: 8/10

Price to Performance

At this price, there’s no chance one can find a better phone than these two. They are certainly the best low budget phones Xiaomi has ever launched in India. They give you the best possible configuration for the price. In Price to Performance ratio, both will get full marks.
